The Global Change Makers The most important people in this programme are the Global Change Makers themselves. A Changemaker is a young activist operating through a range of national, regional and international networks, who is able to influence their community as well as speak to authority with confidence and passion.
Changemakers are not afraid to challenge either accepted ways of thinking or their own convictions. Changemakers are forward looking, they take their ideas and put them into practice.
Most Global Change Makers are aged between 18 and 25 years old and have already demonstrated a passion for social activism. They join the GCM-MENA networks by applying through their local British Council offices, or through the local NGO partner. All the contact details are given in the national teams section of this site.
Becoming a Changemaker takes longer than one or two weeks: participants have to be prepared to commit to the programme for longer - but in return, the British Council commits to the Changemakers. The core of GCM-MENA is the on-going activities of advocacy, awarness raising and youth-led research. GCM-MENA members also get the chance to take part in regional or global meetings and to engage in dialogue with young people from different regions.

من هم صناع التغيير العالميين ؟
صناع التغيير العالميين هم شباب في المنطقة العربية وفي المملكة المتحدة يرغبون في إحداث تغيير إيجابي. وتتراوح أعمارهم بين 18 و25، ومعظمهم ناشطون في مشاريع مجتمعية ويرغبون في توسيع نطاق مهاراتهم والإلتقاء بآخرين يعملون على مواضيع مشابهة. وهم يضيفون الى المشروع نطاقا واسعا من المهارات، ويطلعون الأعضاء الآخرين على هذه المهارات. والأهم من ذلك أنهم يوفرون الطاقة والحماس لإحداث تغيير اجتماعي إيجابي - بحيث يتمكنون من الإستمتاع بمستقبل أفضل. وهناك أكثر من 250 شاب في المنطقة شاركوا في أنشطة مشروع صناع التغيير العالمي لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، كما تقدم مئات آخرون بطلبات للإنضمام للمشروع.

يعمل المركز الثقافي البريطاني مع المنظمات غير الحكومية المحلية الشريكة لضمان أن المشروع يلبي الإحتياجات المحلية. وشركاء مشروع صناع التغيير هم منظمات غير حكومية تركز على الشباب بصورة رئيسية. وهذا يوفر فرصة لجذب أعضاء شباب وكذلك للتأثير على صناع قرار محليين وتعزيز ملكية واستدامة المشروع. ويكون عادة للمنظمات غير الحكومية الشريكة مجموعة من المشاريع المستمرة، بحيث يمكن لأعضاء مشروع صناع التغيير العالمي استخدام مهاراتهم الجديدة كمتطوعين يعملون على مجموعة من المبادرات. كما تعمل مكاتب المركز الثقافي الوطنية بصورة وثيقة مع المنظمات غير الحكومية الشريكة لجمع الأموال محليا لدعم البرنامج. وتم الإتفاق على الشراكة بين المركز البريطاني والمنظمة غير الحكومية المحلية من خلال مذكرة تفاهم تنص بوضوح على أدوار ومسؤوليات كل شريك.
